Binance will employ former government officials as exchange directors in Russia and Ukraine

Binance has hired former government officials from Russia and Ukraine to develop businesses in these regions.

Olga Goncharova, who previously headed the Department of Collection and Processing of Reports of the Bank of Russia, took the position of Director of Government Relations. As a representative of Binance, she will build relationships with federal authorities in Russia and the CIS countries, as well as oversee the company’s interaction with trade associations.

Vladimir Smerkis, who founded the cryptocurrency startup Tokenbox and was previously Deputy Vice President of Mailru Group, has been appointed Director of Binance in Russia. Its main task will be to develop the exchange’s activities in the Russian Federation.

In Ukraine, Kirill Khomyakov, who until June 2021 headed the state Agency for Infrastructure Projects, will take the post of director of Binance. According to his LinkedIn profile, he previously worked for banks such as Intesa Sanpaolo, BNP Paribas and Mellon Ukraine, as well as the American fintech company Fiserv.
